MyTopix Installer Updated

Filed In: MyTopix

Apparently there have been a small handful of instances where users were unable to install MyTopix because of database and / or file system errors. The current installer didn't really give much insight into what was going on so I went ahead and made a few small updates to the system. Since these are all installer-related issues, I just plan on updating the main build. This doesn't even warrant an incremental version change since everything else in the system should work just fine if you've had a successful install.

The updates are as follows:

  1. Debugging system has been added to the installer and can be turned on by including '&debug=true' within the installer's URL. This will only works on PHP 4 installs at the moment.
  2. Mysql drivers have been updated with improved error checking
  3. Mysql 4.x driver should work with MySql 5 if you don't want to take advantage of the mysqli extension
  4. Added a few extra checks within the init.php file to make sure the installation went smoothly
  5. The installer now first checks to see if there is any supported database extensions loaded
  6. Installer only displays supported database extensions
  7. The file handler library has been updated to provide more detailed error reporting, also added better commenting

You can fetch the new installer by clicking here.

Thanks for your patience!
