Well, that was fun ...

Actually, no, it wasn't very fun. Bug fixing styling issues due to cross-browser incompatibilities is not something I could ever enjoy doing.

Obligatory ranting aside, this site is now fully functional and should work across all the latest browsers including Opera, IE 6 & 7 and Firefox! I also made a few minor changes to the front page and a few other areas. The latest blog entries and works on the main page just weren't visible enough. For people on lower resolutions they would have to scroll to the bottom to notice the latest content, so I just made a 2-column layout with both sets of entries on the right side. I lightened the info boxes up a bit so it blends with the rest of the design so it doesn't take away from all the welcome text on the main page.

You might notice 2 sets of RSS feeds that are fed through Feed Burner as well as Technorati, Magnolia, Yahoo, Newsvine, Digg and Delicious links attached to all blog articles.

I also, with the aide of James Mathias who was so kind to share his wisdom, applied some SEO methods to the site itself. This set of updates include description and keyword meta tags, modification of the title bar text so it reads 'page title - content title - site name', adding a fully automated site map that constantly updates itself, I also modified and added some more text to the main page that include keywords relevant to what we do and cleaned up the underlying design structure.

It's probably a little too early to tell, but I did notice a significant boost in unique visitors a few days after applying the SEO stuff. Either way, more visits = a good thing, right?

Lastly, I added a new campfire service for our Symphony installation that automatically submits blog article updates to Ping-O-Matic, so this should help the site out too!

Also, now that all those little CSS glitches are resolved, I'll go ahead and resubmit the new design to all those gallery sites. Even if it doesn't get ranked well, which I really don't care about, we should at least get a noticeable amount of extra traffic.

Tell me what you all think!

Good stuff!

This popped up on my Outlook RSS as well so that's obviously working as intended.
